Who are you really?

And what should I know about you should we ever meet?

These are interesting questions.

Even with people I know, do I really know them?  

Only to a point.

Everyone you meet has private thoughts and ideas and a life that doesn’t involve you, even if you are important to them.

Just as other people can never really know me fully, I can never really know them fully.

But that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t try.

I find that accepting the other person as fully human helps.  

It helps me to acknowledge the complexity of who they are despite not knowing the details of that complexity. 

It’s a good first step anyway.
