Why calming your mind with compassion can help you make better decisions
Not everyone in the freethought and/or atheists movements are Humanists.
And that’s ok.
Humanism isn’t for everyone.
Humanism encourages us to solve our problems ethically, effectively, responsibly and yes, compassionately.
In order to solve our problems well we need to think well.
In order to think well, we have to have a calm mind.
Finding compassion for people I disagree with helps me calm my mind and think more effectively.
This is why I, along with so many other Humanists keep counseling our brethren in the movement to find compassion for the people they disagree with.
I realize that some people aren’t willing to give up their anger.
That’s fine.
Just don’t be angry with me for choosing a different approach.
Finding compassion when you are angry is hard. What tricks do you use to calm your mind?
