According to Business Insider, the way to win an argument is to let the other person tell you how they would solve the problem instead.
Don’t try to convince them your way is better.
Focus on how to actually solve the problem, not who is right.
How exactly would their proposal work in the real world?
What are the likely outcomes?
You know, pragmatic stuff.
When you focus the conversation on how solutions can actually be implemented and interesting thing happens.
It turns out that you find motivations are similar and often, you aren’t too far apart after all.
The other thing that happens is that the conversation stops being a competition and starts being a collaboration.
And we almost all respond well to collaboration.
So the next time you find yourself arguing with someone, stop.
Ask them to help you solve the problem instead.
